Description of content: This revision is to add papaya and processed foods containing papaya for as a main ingredient, as foods in which recombinant DNA or resulting protein remains, to the list of items subject to mandatory labelling (i.e. seven organisms such as soybean, corn and 32 items such as Tofu, corn snack have been already designated) in accordance with the labelling standard for genetically modified foods notified in G/SPS/N/JPN/56 , G/SPS/N/JPN/80 , G/SPS/N/JPN/143 and G/SPS/N/JPN/162 . Food labelling and import notification stating that papaya or processed foods containing papaya as a main ingredient are genetically modified will be mandatory.
